One sec......

OpenStudy (ybarrap):

You need the inverse function or f(x) Do you know how to do this?

OpenStudy (kj4uts):

@ybarrap would that be f^-1(Y) = (y - 1) / -8 ?

OpenStudy (ybarrap):

y=-8x+1 exchange x and y x=-8y+1 solve for y 8y=1-x y=(1-x)/8 This is the inverse of f(x) $$ f^{-1}(x)=\cfrac{1-x}{8} $$ Now just plug-in x=-15; $$ f^{-1}(-15)=\cfrac{1-(-15)}{8} $$ Make sense?
