OpenStudy (fanduekisses):

How to find the limiting reagant when you are only given the balanced equation: 2Mg + O2 --> 2MgO ?

OpenStudy (fanduekisses):

I need to know so I can calculate the theoretical yield of MgO. :(

OpenStudy (photon336):

If you used excess oxygen then you dont really need the mass

OpenStudy (photon336):

If this was done in lab in the open where there's excess oxygen rather than a closed environment, then Mg is your limiting reactant.

OpenStudy (photon336):

@Fanduekisses

OpenStudy (fanduekisses):

Yeah thanks I figured that lol.

OpenStudy (photon336):

this can scare the hell out of you when you're in lab but remember that magnesium will run out first!
