OpenStudy (hhopke):

Sorry to be this person, but the chem section isn't being helpful. What is the difference between alkanes and polymers? (Please give a credible source, need it for the bibliography)

OpenStudy (lochana):

thier bonds are different. alkane is non polar covalent and plymers are polar covalent.

OpenStudy (hhopke):

Do you have a source? Sorry! :)

OpenStudy (some.random.cool.kid):

Alkenes The products of cracking include alkenes (for example ethene and propene). The alkenes are a family of hydrocarbons that share the same general formula. This is CnH2n. The general formula means that the number of hydrogen atoms in an alkene is double the number of carbon atoms. For example, ethene is C2H4 and propene is C3H6. Alkene molecules can be represented by displayed formulae, in which each atom is shown as its symbol (C or H) and the chemical bonds between them by a straight line.

OpenStudy (hhopke):

We've already covered alkenes. ;) I need help with polymers vs. alkanes w/ credible sourcing.

OpenStudy (lochana):

yes. alkenes are chemicals like ch4, c2h2. And polymers are made of polarized alkenes. look at this image. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polymer#/media/File:Ethene_polymerization.png
