Please Help!!!! Remo needs to buy a countertop for a bathroom. He calculated the area as 10 square feet. The actual area is 9.5 square feet. What is Remo's percentage error? A) 0.5% B) 0.95% C) 5% D) 5.26%
What do you think the answer is?
i think its 0.5%??
@ShadowLegendX
because if i add 0.5 + 9.5 its 10?
hmm
when the real calculation is just 9.5??
@ShadowLegendX
@ganeshie8 can you please help?
or somebody?? Please :(
C
0.5/10 x100 = 5
The way you calculate Error percentage is you see how "far" the faulty value, in a sense, is from the truth. Error Percentage = | Wrong - True | / True where Wrong = the wrong value, True = the true value, and it's absolute because we're considering a displacement. "how far" the answers are, and then the rate of that distance to our truth is the error percentage.
PLEASE DO NOT GIVE OUT THE ANSWER WITHOUT SHOWING WHY. IT IS AGAINST the terms of use guys. sadly, Just like I was, you will get suspended :/
??? im confused because it says the real calculation is 9.5
but i added 9.5 + 0.5 = 10 and 10 is what he put
have you read the lesson yet?
yes @ninjaslice
What does the lesson say?
it says that He calculated the area as 10 square feet. but the actual area is 9.5 square feet. What is Remo's percentage error? its that its 0.5 more
more like he put 0.5 more?
giving him 10 when it supposed to be 9.5
@ninjaslice
I sent a private message.
How much did he miss it by?
he missed it by 0.5 @nelsonjedi
As @LanHikari22 stated: Error Percentage = | Wrong - True | / \(\color{red}{True}\) = error/\(\color{red}{True}\) So what is error, and what is "true"? @KayleeMullins
He calculated the area as 10 square feet. "The actual area is 9.5 square feet".
What is error, and what is "true"? Once you get these right, you can work out the error percentage.
wait @mathmate
i subtracted 0.5 from 10 giving me 9.5 the real deal is 9.5 so he messed up with just 0.5
square feet
What is error, and what is "true"?
the error is 10 the true is 9.5
Hint: Error is what he thinks it is minus what it really is.
so 10-0.5=9.5
Nice good job!
true=9.5 is correct. Take an example. Suppose I am guessing your math grade. I guessed 95%, and you actually got 98%. What is true, and what is my error?
your error is 95% but the truth is 98% you missed by just 3% @ninjaslice
@mathmate
My guess is 95%, error is how much I am off, so 95%-98% = 3% is what I am off, or the error. Is that ok?
im confused?
im sorry
* -3% and error percentage is error/actual=-3%/98%=3%
ohhhh okay! got what you mean! :)
@KayleeMullins So is that clear to you what is error, and what is actual value ("true")?
Yes :)
Let's get back to the question. What is error, and what is the true value?
the error is 10 square and the true value is 9.5?
0.5
But i do understand what you trying to say @mathmate :)
and the true value?
Well, perhaps you're busy, or perhaps you got the answer one way or another. It doesn't look like you need my help any more. Good luck!
