3a - 4 < 5 - explain your answer plz

OpenStudy (anonymous):

add 4 to both sides to cancel it out and then devide 3 to both sides and you will end up with an answer looking like (a>3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well first you have to take the -4 and add it to both side to cancel it out leaving you with 3a<9 then you have to get A by it's self! so divided 3 to both sides of the equation leaving you with a<3 ;) its important to remember to get rid of the number infront of the variable!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no if you devide you have to flip the sign so it would be a>3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nice try though @OTAKUSUCKSATMath

OpenStudy (anonymous):

isn't that only if you divided by a negative?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no anytime you devide

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Dude I just looked it up it said anytime you divided a negative number -_-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's not a negative number that's a subtraction sign

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know but you wouldn't divided you would add it to the other side then divided since its not a negative number the sign would stay the same ;)
