i think it depends on what you are studying.....and to what level.

2 periodic functions will [might] have periodic solutions.  so sin x = cos x will have periodicity.  

a non-periodic function and a periodic one may not have periodic solution.  so x = sin x will not

but 0 = sin x will have periodic solutions.  or 0.5 = sin x.   

if that does not satisfy you, i'd recommend that a "proper" mathematician, like @freckles, looks at this
