Algebra 16 Online
OpenStudy (anonymous):

Determine a value for b so that (3+2i)−(4+bi)=−2+2i.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

3-4 is not -2 so i cant see this working out

OpenStudy (baru):

b can be another complex number

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

and how you got 2i-bi=2i i don't understand as well

OpenStudy (amistre64):

a complex number (a+bi) is defined for (a,b) in Real, isnt it?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

otherwise the questions needs to be clarified

OpenStudy (baru):

i donno, but you assume b=x+iy, it is solvable

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if thats the case, then its just algebra ... isolate b

OpenStudy (baru):

ye, but i agree, probably mistake in the question

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if we assume to let 'b' amount to anything that makes it work, then we need not restrict ourselves to the reals, or the complex ... and the question becomes rather moot.
