How many grams of CuO are found in 2.031 mols? i don't understand dimensional analysis

OpenStudy (aaronq):

you can circumvent about using dimensional analysis, unless you are strictly required to do so.. you can instead use the formulas/definitions, for example, here, one of the definitions of a mole is: \(\sf moles=\dfrac{mass}{Molar~mass}\) you just rearrange for mass using algebra: \(\sf mass=moles*Molar~mass\)

OpenStudy (greatlife44):

The purpose of dimensional analysis is to find the unit you're looking for. If you notice, the unit you want to find remains in the numerator while the one in the denominator cancels out. in this case you're looking for the number of grams in a sample of 2.08 moles. you need to multiply by the molar mass which is in grams per mole. you need to find this first. but the units should look like this. then you would get grams. |dw:1448247574066:dw|
