This ain't Math related but since no one is in Chemistry, Can someone help me on this question... Which element or elements are NOT balanced in the equation, below? AlCl3 + K → Al + KCl A. Al B. Cl C. K D. Al and Cl

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

what do you think ?

OpenStudy (hellomynameiskam):

I think D ? i am not sure

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

nope

OpenStudy (shiburinga):

I just found a ebsite that might help, if Mayan doesn't mind. :)

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

to balance equation, you need to equate all the elements i.e number of particular element in reactant = no.of that particular element in product side

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

Lets see for Al

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

can we ?

OpenStudy (hellomynameiskam):

Sure

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

on reactant side = 1 on product side=1

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

right ?

OpenStudy (hellomynameiskam):

yea

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

now , see if K is balanced or not ?

OpenStudy (hellomynameiskam):

K is balanced.

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

correct

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

try for Cl?

OpenStudy (hellomynameiskam):

Cl is balanced

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

try again !

OpenStudy (hellomynameiskam):

Ohh so Cl is not balanced.

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

yup

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

on reactant side =3 on product side= 1

OpenStudy (hellomynameiskam):

So it's B then ?

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

yess

OpenStudy (hellomynameiskam):

Okay Thank You

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

your welcome :)q
