the standard form for horizontal is \[\rm \frac{ (x-h)^2}{ a^2 }-\frac{(y-k)^2}{b^2}=1\] if the x-coordinate above a then it's horizontal and if the y-coordiante above then it should be vertical and (h,k) is the center and since it's horizontal y coordinate would stay the same of the center and vertices are \[\rm (h \pm a , k) \] and foci at \[\rm (h \pm c , k)\]

to find c use the Pythagorean theorem c^2=a^2+b^2
