Which of the following is an important rule regarding colon usage? A. A colon points to an idea in an earlier sentence. B. The words coming before the colon must form a complete sentence. C. A colon can't be used in a question. D. A colon only introduces a list.
@Atsie @Cardinal_Carlo
What do you think it is yourself?
C or D?
C isn't correct because someone could ask a question like this... "Mom, do you want lobster, steak, or crab for dinner tonight?"
i thought the colon was (:)
well thats what google told me
WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME. I cannot read for the life of me today! Okay, I'm thinking of the comma. It could be D or B in that sense then
On the contrary, C is correct. Someone can ask a question using a colon (:). For example, a daughter could ask, "Mom, which would you like to have for dinner: lobster, steak, or crab?". However, it is not the important rule this question is referring to.
It's B
Reasoning: Having a complete sentence (i.e. subject + verb) before the colon (:) is a known condition for its usage.
Otherwise, your sentences will look funky.
next question?

You're welcome
Thank @Cardinal_Carlo more than me. I would have messed you up a bit if he wasn't there. I seriously have eye problems. Sorry for the messups on my part.
But still @Atsie, three minds are better than one or two. You helped a bit.
Thanks for the comfort :)

It'll come to you easier and easier as you practice more. I remember I had a very hard time with grammar when I came face to face with it. Keep on studying! :) @danysanchy97
