PLEASE EXPLAIN, MEDAL GIVEN Write the word or phrase that best completes each statement or answers the question. Find n(A) for the set. A = {300, 301, 302, . . ., 3000

OpenStudy (nerdsarecool):

So

OpenStudy (nerdsarecool):

What is it asking

OpenStudy (nerdsarecool):

Tell me about the question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is asking for the cardinality

OpenStudy (nerdsarecool):

Ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I did 3000-300= 2700

OpenStudy (nerdsarecool):

It is basically going up by one

OpenStudy (nerdsarecool):

Oh

OpenStudy (nerdsarecool):

Ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but 2700 is wrong

OpenStudy (nerdsarecool):

Oh

OpenStudy (nerdsarecool):

Do we need to go up to 3,000

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, the question goes up to 3000

OpenStudy (nerdsarecool):

Ok

OpenStudy (nerdsarecool):

Let me try something

OpenStudy (nerdsarecool):

This is harder than thought

OpenStudy (nerdsarecool):

Let me calculate it

OpenStudy (nerdsarecool):

I don't know

hi thank you so much, the guy didn't understand how to do it. I was hoping you could help

Parth (parthkohli):

literally have to count number of elements here

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no but theres a way you can do it I subtracted 3000-300=2700 but the answer is 2701

Parth (parthkohli):

ah, great. but you actually have to subtract 299!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why 299?

Parth (parthkohli):

here is how: 300, 301, 302, ..., 3000 now subtract 299 1, 2, 3, ..., 2701 basically you want to convert to "1, 2, 3, ..." form and see the last number. that is the number of elements. if you subtract 300 instead, it will become 0, 1, 2, ...
