OpenStudy (rainbow_rocks03):

most cotton grown in Texas during the mid-1800s went to Africa and the U.S. Africa and Europe Europe and the U.S. China and Europe

OpenStudy (rainbow_rocks03):

I know this is history but no one helps me in the other sections.

OpenStudy (rainbow_rocks03):

@OrangeMaster

OpenStudy (tumblewolf):

I believe it is the US and Europe, but please next time post it in the history section :-)

OpenStudy (rainbow_rocks03):

Like I said I already tried and no body ever helps me!

OpenStudy (rainbow_rocks03):

But can you plz explain why you think its the U.S. and Europe?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry to say, but I was not a cotton farmer in the mid-1800's :(

OpenStudy (tumblewolf):

This is mainly based off knowledge of the Civil War. The South's main export of the time was cotton and when the Mississippi river was put under Union control it cut off exports and imports. The cotton boom of the UK was going around that time. When the former Empire decided to go neutral Jefferson Davis decided to place an embargo on the crop to force the UK into recognizing the Confederacy

OpenStudy (tumblewolf):

Sorry my points drifted off there a little

OpenStudy (rainbow_rocks03):

its alright and @OrangeMaster why did you say that?

OpenStudy (tumblewolf):

Here's a website if you want to look more up about it. It would take me too long to explain but I think this summarizes it http://mshistorynow.mdah.state.ms.us/articles/291/cotton-and-the-civil-war
