If you have a `third degree` polynomial, it will have up to three solutions corresponding to the fact that it can have up to `three zeroes/x-intercepts`. Hmm the question is a little vague though. Do they only mean real solutions? Are they talking about polynomials? Hmm I'm not quite sure what they're looking for here :[ Maybe that will give you some ideas though.
