Can someone help me explain why Bobby is correct? When looking at a rational function f of x equals the quantity x plus three times the quantity x minus two times the quantity x plus five all divided by the quantity x minus three times the quantity x plus two times the quantity x minus 5, Charles and Bobby have two different thoughts. Charles says that the function is defined at x = –2, x = 3, and x = 5. Bobby says that the function is undefined at those x values. Who is correct? Justify your reasoning.

@alivejeremy please help

OpenStudy (alivejeremy):

(-6 + 6)(x - 3)(x - 4) = 0(x + 3)(x - 4)

OpenStudy (lamechildidc):

So the function equals 0? Because the numerators cancel out the denominators?

OpenStudy (lamechildidc):

How do I explain this more in depth?

OpenStudy (alivejeremy):

if we any of the factors are 0 it will make the whole demnominator = 0

OpenStudy (lamechildidc):

Ohh?

OpenStudy (alivejeremy):

lol

OpenStudy (lamechildidc):

That's it? lol

OpenStudy (alivejeremy):

yea

OpenStudy (lamechildidc):
