i reckon there's no such thing as a typical sized room. maybe they just want to test your ability to size things up so you could -- totally making these numbers up -- assume that the "typical" room is 5m x 5m and 2.5m high. ***to some, that's a room; to others, that's a castle.*** \(V_R = 5 \times 5 \times 2.5 \; m^3\) a tennis ball is very roughly 5cm in diameter so has vol \(V_B={4\over 3}\pi \; ({0.05\over 2})^3\) but you are only allowed to use 75pc of the space so discount \(V_R\) by that amount. \(V_{R-actual} = 0.75 \times 5 \times 5 \times 2.5 \; m^3\) that should get you [tennis]ballpark,.....forgiving the terrible pun.
