Which of the following describes how the formation of the lagging strand is different from the formation of the leading strand in DNA replication? The lagging strand is formed using Okazaki fragments because DNA polymerase III can only bond in the 5’ to 3’ direction. The lagging strand uses the enzyme ligase to bond segments into one continuous strand of nucleotides. The formation of the lagging strand is called discontinuous because the nucleotides do not connect one after the other. All of the above are correct. @Abhisar
Okay, so it's actually correct. DNA polymerase can bond only in 5'-3' direction so the leading strand forms in one go but lagging strand is formed in a discontinuous manner. These discontinuous fragments are called as okazaki fragments. After synthesis these are joined together by DNA ligase.
Which one should be the correect option?
Quick??
