The angle formed by the Sun is labeled x degrees and the side between the Shooting Star and the Sun is labeled y. A scientist measures the angle x and the distance y between the Sun and the shooting star. Using complete sentences, explain how the scientist can use only these two measurements to calculate the distance between the Earth and the Sun.

Using these two measurements, the scientists could use the tangent ratio. Since tan(x)=opposite/adjacent, and we need to find the opposite side given an angle and adjacent side, using the tangent ratio would help the scientists find the distance of the star
