CHECK MY ANSWER PLEASE? WILL FAN AND MEDAL Sam wants to compare surf board rental companies while he is on spring break. Catch-a-Wave has a flat rate of $60 for all day. Long Board has no initial charge, but it is $15 per hour. Beach Rentals only charges $5 per hour, but it has an initial charge of $30. Explain to Sam how he can graph these surf board rental charges and, describe what key features of the graphs he should consider when making a decision.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

--- Alright so personally I believe the best way for Sam to graph is to use a bar graph so it can display the rental charges for the surf boards but I'm not exactly sure what key features of the graphs he should consider??

@nincompoop @jhonyy9 @imqwerty @Daniellelovee there is not many people online so I would really really appreciate all the help I can get? :)

imqwerty (imqwerty):

:) okay lets find a formula from which we can get to know how much we have to pay for \(x\) hours for each of the three given things okay?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

You MUST be able to write a formula for Catch-a-Wave. Let's see it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@imqwerty @tkhunny Well I'd have to keep in mind y = mx + b , right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@imqwerty @tkhunny we would have a slope of zero and an intercept of 60 for the first one, for the next since there's no initial charge there's a slope of 15 but no intercept, and for the last one since there was an initial charge it would have a slope of 5 with an intercept of 30?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Except for the middle one. The intercept is 0, not "no intercept". The idea of "no intercept" would be reserved for vertical lines. Good work.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@tkhunny Ohh, I understand, my mistake! So basically Sam should graph the surf board rental charges using y = mx + b , and he would need to consider where the lines intersect on the graph, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@tkhunny I solved it! Thank you very much for your help, I appreciate it.
