A group of scientists have completed several investigations to gather evidence about the primitive backbone present in hagfish. Which of these is the most likely outcome of the investigations? A.) misconceptions about the evolution of hagfish will increase B.) evidences about the evolution of hagfish will be biased C.) a scientific theory about the evolution of hagfish will be proposed D.) all old theories about the evolution of hagfish will be rejected
A doesn't make sense because the scientists have completed several investigations, so you'd assume that their evidence is somewhat solid. B doesn't make sense either, because each person in the group has different biases. One person couldn't slip their specific bias into the experiment without the others noticing, because (obviously) that'd be an unfair thing to do. D doesn't make sense either, because some of the previous theories (or elements of those theories) could still prove useful and accurate. Take Darwin's theory of evolution for example. There was some things he got wrong, but his theory wasn't simply rejected but studied, tested, and improved upon. C, however, makes perfect sense. After several investigations and several proven pieces of evidence are put in place, it's only logical to assume that the next step is proposing a theory. Hope this helped :)
