please help need to show my work a) graph x+3y< ( theres a line under that symbol), indicating the solution set with crosshatchimg or shading b) explain how you determined which line to draw c) explain how you determined where to shade the solution set

OpenStudy (narissa):

theres a 6 after that symbol forgot to type it

OpenStudy (narissa):

@AlexandervonHumboldt2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Basically you want to draw a graph on line x+3y-6<0. .. Huh..?

OpenStudy (triciaal):

the line under the symbol means include that boundary

OpenStudy (triciaal):

do you know how to plot the graph?

OpenStudy (narissa):

a) graph \(x+3y\le6\) indicating the solution set with crosshatchimg or shading b) explain how you determined which line to draw c) explain how you determined where to shade the solution set

OpenStudy (narissa):

yes that it and there is a graph

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

ok, so do me a favor. First, solve x+3y=6 for y

OpenStudy (narissa):

do i minus 3 from each side?

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

no, that won't do anything. You have to reverse the order of operations on the y term.

OpenStudy (narissa):

its plus so wouldn't it be minus?

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

you want y by itself, if you subtract 3 from both sides, you get x+3y-3=3

OpenStudy (narissa):

so i divide?

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

not yet, first you need to see if there is any addition or subtraction

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

I mean you could, but dividing isn't the easiest way at the moment

OpenStudy (narissa):

im confused so add?

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

so SadMep

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

You know PEMDAS right?

OpenStudy (narissa):

not really

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

ok, watch that video then. There is some serious background info needed in order to even comprehend how to do this. This is algebra II, what are you doing it? Aren't you in general math 7 or 8?

OpenStudy (narissa):

i dont even really know i have to submit a paper in the morning linear equations and inequalities

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

... well, hum, you got some issues.

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

can you give me the exact prompt/directions. I won't be able to teach you everything, but I can give you the resources to do it

OpenStudy (narissa):

ok this is hard

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

it's way above your level. You haven't even had algebra yet, right?

OpenStudy (narissa):

its exactly what i posted to begin with

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

you said a paper, that prompt is not a paper

OpenStudy (narissa):

its unit 7 part 2

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

ok, step 1: Learn how to solve a linear equation going from standard form to slope intercept(This will be the hardest part) Step 2: memorize rules for inequalities so you can solve those too(there's only one difference) Step 3: graph said line once in slope intercept step 4: Pick a point and plug it into your equation. If it works, shade that side of the graph, if not, the other. Since the inequality is less than or equal to, shade the line.

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

Telling me the unit does nada for me to help ya

OpenStudy (narissa):

ok well im going to try then thank u

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

sorry, but I have to be up early, so I can't walk you through. Maybe post another question and get someone to explain "How to put a leaner equation into slope intercept form?"

OpenStudy (narissa):

k thank u
