Fill in the blank to make the expression a perfect square. v^2-6v+?

OpenStudy (anitas.):

\[v(v^2/v+−6v/v)\] simplify each term in parentheses: \[v(v-6)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you explain further? @AnitaS.

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Hey Kelly :) \(\large\rm v^2\color{orangered}{-6v}\quad=v^2\color{orangered}{-3v-3v}\) If you split the middle term in half like this, you can determine that the missing piece that we need is (-3)*(-3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It actually told me the answer was 9.

zepdrix (zepdrix):

@KellyRJr yes, -3*-3 = 9 sorry if you didn't understand that.
