OpenStudy (thatawayz):

If the sin 30° = 1 over 2 , then the cos 60° = _____. How and why???

OpenStudy (thatawayz):

@Zeronknight

Zeronknight (zeronknight):

I think I have an idea, but I'm not so sure :P. I may not be the best person to do this. Try tagging mathmale by putting an @ before his name. Like @mathmale

OpenStudy (thatawayz):

@mathmale

OpenStudy (thatawayz):

@Zeronknight regardless, can you elaborate your idea, surely its better than what im thinking

Zeronknight (zeronknight):

30' = 1 over 2. If 30 is 1 over 2. Then what is 60? Hint 60 is 30 just doubled ;)

Zeronknight (zeronknight):

Again, I'm not so sure if this is even correct.

OpenStudy (thatawayz):

so just 1 perhaps?

OpenStudy (thatawayz):

i mean thats what i wrote down

OpenStudy (thatawayz):

it can also be scary fractions

Zeronknight (zeronknight):

60 is 30 doubled. What happens to the 1 over 2?

Zeronknight (zeronknight):

@pooja195

OpenStudy (thatawayz):

that is an awesome name

Zeronknight (zeronknight):

I know isn't it? :P

pooja195 (pooja195):

Haha thanks unfortunately i don't do trig ;~; Perhaps @imqwerty might know. ^_^

Zeronknight (zeronknight):

@AlexandervonHumboldt2

OpenStudy (thatawayz):

Darn common core

OpenStudy (thatawayz):

yeah, just called up afriend, he said it was one, because they are complementary

Atsie (atsie):

@mathmale @TheSmartOne

OpenStudy (thatawayz):

but wait... theres more

OpenStudy (serenity74):

sin 30 = 1/2 cos 60 = 1/2 as well

OpenStudy (thatawayz):

okay, i believe i see your point serenity

OpenStudy (serenity74):

Google pie chart. X values = Cosine Y values = Sine for trig values

OpenStudy (thatawayz):

it is a tad bit confusing though

OpenStudy (serenity74):

Google Pie chart. I can't really explain to you unless you can hook me up with a pie chart so I can explain it to you.

OpenStudy (serenity74):

I would post it here but I can't since I am on my phone and in the car.

OpenStudy (thatawayz):

okay i googled a pie chart

OpenStudy (serenity74):

Attack the picture on here

OpenStudy (thatawayz):

a blank one?

OpenStudy (serenity74):

no a filled one so I can explain it to you

OpenStudy (thatawayz):

im on a note 4 so ill try

OpenStudy (serenity74):

Wait I figured it out one sec

OpenStudy (thatawayz):

its rooted

OpenStudy (serenity74):

I got it one sec

OpenStudy (serenity74):

OpenStudy (thatawayz):

ok awesome, it showed up

OpenStudy (serenity74):

It's actually called a Unit Circle but I call it a pie chart BUT it's a Unit Circle. Okay since you are looking in the 1st Quadrant you look for the degrees you are looking for. You are looking for 60 degrees right? Then it's based on what the question is asking you, in radians or values or degrees to, so you look at the x & y values for the values X- values = COSINE Y-values = SINE so when you look at the unit circle Cos 60 = 1/2. Let me know if you need any help :) I will look for a video on unit circle for you. What math are you taking by the way?

OpenStudy (thatawayz):

i thought the reply wasnt loading, let me read it rel quick

OpenStudy (thatawayz):

this is geometry, but i believe this is a portion of basic trig

OpenStudy (serenity74):

Oh man I gave you pre-cal but Unit circle does help you ish....Gosh darn it. Okay geometry *Cringe* Let me remember how to do it the geometric way grrr.

OpenStudy (thatawayz):

part of a lesson of solving right triangles

OpenStudy (serenity74):

OHHHHHH WOW I love this part of Geometry can you please give me the diagram if you were given one?

OpenStudy (thatawayz):

um if i can sure, old up

OpenStudy (thatawayz):

hold up, gahhhhhh i hate typos

OpenStudy (serenity74):

Aight if you have a diagram I can explain it to you lol Cause I don't wanna teach you Pre-Calc just yet you have a long way to go. :p

OpenStudy (thatawayz):

lol,believe me i know. My undertanding of math is so fragmented it is unreal

OpenStudy (thatawayz):

okay, there are no visible diagrams that i can find for this lesson unfortunately

OpenStudy (serenity74):

Hmmmm let me see if I can find anything on this for you :)

OpenStudy (thatawayz):

alright, thankyou

OpenStudy (mathmale):

sin 30° = 1 over 2 denotes the following ratio: opposite side over hypotenuse. Can you draw this?

OpenStudy (thatawayz):

music chat?

OpenStudy (serenity74):

Never mind, just google, 'Sine, Cosine, Tangent' and then click on mathisfun.com

OpenStudy (serenity74):

*on the link that has mathisfun.com

OpenStudy (thatawayz):

kk

OpenStudy (thatawayz):

im there

OpenStudy (mathmale):

|dw:1452808548077:dw|

OpenStudy (thatawayz):

chat is still alive

OpenStudy (thatawayz):

thankyou mathmale for putting it into a visual perspective for me, it does really help

OpenStudy (serenity74):

I am sorry for confusing you thatawayz I tried to look for visuals but couldn't upload them on here sorres!
