did you post a question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A proportional relationship between the number of pounds of cabbage (x) and the price in dollars (y) is graphed, and the ordered pair (5, 3) is on the graphed line. Part A: What is the price of 1 pound of cabbage? Show your work, including the proportion you used to determine the price. (8 points) Part B: What does the ordered pair (10, 6) on the graph represent? Explain in words. (2 points)

Alright so do you know what the proportion for the pounds of cabbage to the cost is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for every 5 pounds of cabbage it costs 3 dollars

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Part A: 5:3 is the proportion, in other words it's 1 and 2/3 or in decimal form it's 1.667

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hold on i'm still formulating the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5/3 is simplified as much as possible so the answer will not be a whole number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but for one cabbage we still need to find out the cost

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so we do 3 divided by 5 which gives us .6 so 1 cabbage costs .6 dollars

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so for Part A write: 3 divided by 5 = .6 So 5 is to 1 as 3 is to .6 or 5/3 divided by 5 = 1/.6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Part B: 5/3 represents 5 cabbages costing 3 dollars 5 times 2 and 3 times 2 equals 10/6
