OpenStudy (gabinator1):

I'm pretty sure it isn't the train v. New york

OpenStudy (gabinator1):

City of new york i mean

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its not D, any others ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well I know C is a school case on "separate but equal" (which doesnt really change law enforcement)

OpenStudy (gabinator1):

Is it Miranda v. Arizona! I think that case had something to do with the land, it sort of makes the most sense

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"In Miranda v. Arizona (1966), the Supreme Court ruled that detained criminal suspects, prior to police questioning, must be informed of their constitutional right to an attorney and against self-incrimination." So basically, the guy didn't know his rights, and ended up admitting that he was guilty, not knowing that he had the right to not say anything until he got a lawyer. this changed the law enforcement, because now, its required that each suspect knows there rights at the time they are arrested. These rights are now called the Miranda rights because of this case (the right to remain silent, the right to an attorney, etc.)

OpenStudy (gabinator1):

So why is it called Miranda? Do you know where that name came from? Is it from the man?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the mans last name is Miranda (i forgot his first name lol)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its Ernesto Miranda

OpenStudy (gabinator1):
