exterior angles of a triangle http://i.imgur.com/ysUy2pZ.png So, this one is a tad confusing for me as well. I assume I'm suppose to use the exterior angle of a triangle theorm, but not sure where to start.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Theorem: The measure of an exterior angle of a triangle is equal to the sum of the measures of its two remote interior angles.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

also, i have some troubles finding the "remote interior angles". I'm not sure where THAT is exactly.

I usually just chose the farthest ones apart.. but sometime its too close for me to determine.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Look at my figure above.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Angles 1, 2, and 3 are the interior angles of the triangle. Ange 4 is one of the exterior angles of the triangle.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Exterior angle 4 is adjacent to interior angle 2. Adjacent means "next to". It must be close by. "Remote" means far away. For exterior angle 4, interior angles 1 and 3 are the remote interior angles. Angles 1 and 3 are far away from exterior angle 4.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Now that we understand what remote interior angles are we can understand the theorem.

yes, i undesrtsand now.
