Can someone help me compare and contrast the north and south in the 1800s?!?! Its for an essay!

first of all, the south had cotton. the north had wheat and had a lot of industry and factories, especially in places like new york. the south had slaves, but some claim that blacks were worse off in the north than in the south. if a black worked in the north, they were always persecuted against. in the south, even though they had no freedom and had to work as a slave, they were cared for, fed, and if they were injured during work, they could be nursed back to health. in the north, if you are maimed in a factory, you lost your job.

The north was more industrial and the south was more agricultural, the north had more population.Cotton was a big part of the souths economy and that is why they needed cheap or slave labor. both north and south had railroads but the north had many more miles of railroad and a more sophisticated rail system, the north was more progressive not just socially (outlawing slavery in most states) but also technologically, the first telegraph system was in place during the civil war, and Abraham Lincoln Used it to communicate at the major battles and know what happened right away and react to it, helping him Win the Civil War.The south had fewer big cities but the population, being more out in the country had more people who knew how to use a gun effectively from hunting experience which gave them and advantage in that regard.

During the first part of the 1800's the North and the South grew in different ways. In the North, cities were centers of wealth and manufacturing. There were many skilled workers. In the South there was not much manufacturing. There were not many skilled workers. Most of the people were farmers. Money came from plantation crops, like cotton, rice, sugar cane and tobacco. Slaves did most of the work on the plantations. During the Civil War the North and the South had some advantages that were helpful to their part of the country. The North produced three-fourths of the nation's wealth. They had a bigger army including thousands of black soldiers. The North also had better equipment and supplies to fight the war. The South had some advantages too. Most of the war was fought on Southern territory so soldiers did not have to travel so far. The South had better generals. Like Robert E. Lee and Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson. The South also grew cotton, which Europe needed.
