OpenStudy (timemachine1):

Hypothetically, if you COULD (which we can't) stop carbon atoms electrons from getting exited by light, would a four inch piece of carbon be invisible/transparent? So if a four inch piece of cubic block of SOLID carbon, if it could have its electrons not get exited by light would the object be invisible, or transparent, or just black like if you were looking at the carbon block in the dark,or transparent, or invisible. Thank you for your help anything helps, even a few words.

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

the word is excited, not exited

OpenStudy (aaronq):

the object would be invisible or transparent depending if that were the case. "like if you were looking at the carbon block in the dark" you can't look at something in the dark (complete darkness) because there isn't any light to reflect of an object
