OpenStudy (anisah.21a):

x/11+1/9=

OpenStudy (kkutie7):

the goal is to get x by itself on one side. can you try to give me a first step?

OpenStudy (anisah.21a):

would you multiply something on both sides?

OpenStudy (kkutie7):

close. you can only do that when there is a common factor example: \[\frac{3x}{11}+\frac{3}{9}=0\] in this example you can divide both sides by three. your problem is a little easier. its good to look for division and multiplication first. when that doesn't work loo for something you can add or subtract to the other side. any idea now?

OpenStudy (kkutie7):

look for something you can add or subtract to the other side.
