3x+1/4y=-3/4 -1/2x+1/3y=8

OpenStudy (jtug6):

I'm assuming the question is asking to solve for x or y?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

@cuddles: welcome to OpenStudy! jtug6 does have a point: it's important to include the instructions with each problem you post. Note those messy fractions in the first equation. I suggest you multiply all 3 terms fo the first equation by 4y to clear it of fractions. Please share the work you do. Then we can tackle the 2nd equation. What is the LCD of the 2nd equation?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

@mathmale sorry but i think that just 4 is the denominator ,y not is - same in second equation there are on case of first term just 2 and in case of second term just 3 are denominators - pardon for this intervention - but till today this is my opinion what result from experiences what i have got here on openstudy.com

OpenStudy (mathmale):

I based my suggestion of multip. by 4y on "cuddles" writing 1/4y. He/she should have written (1/4) y instead.
