Mean = 79 Standard Deviation = 23 Using chebyshevs theorem, what percentage use less than 102 units ? Using empirical law, what percentage use less than 102 units?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mean would make 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What would be 4? I'm looking for percentages.

Ok, so fist things first, Lets highlight the key words. Can you find some?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i would know how to do it if it gave me the interval numbers (say between 56 and 102) because chebyshevs says there is no useful info in that interval and empirical would be 68% but where it is less than I don't know how to do that. How do I look at intervals then ?

I really dont know. But Ill try, @mathmale

OpenStudy (mathmale):

I'd advise that you graph a normal curve showing the divisions predicted by the empirical rule: plus or minus one std. dev. about the mean, plus or minus two std. devs. about the mean, and so on. Once you've done that, mark 102 on the horiz. axis. How would you go about determining the percentage of values less than 102?
