Can someone help me with this question? I'm kind of stumped here. How do you use the distance formula and slope formula to classify a triangle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok to start off what is the formulas that you are using please put the actual formula

OpenStudy (anonymous):

distance formula: d (x2 - x1)^2 + (y2-y1))^2 (this is supposed to be squared) slope formula: m=rise/run= y2-y1 / x2-x1

suppa wassup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so what are the different ways for anyone to classify a triangle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is how you use the formulas to figure out the triangle 1 Use the distance formula to find the length of each side of the triangle ABC. 2 Let each ordered pair be a vertex of the triangle. 3 Leave values in radical form.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The different ways to classify a triangle is by their sides and angles.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and the different types of triangles are 1 Scalene triangle: no equal sides. 2 Isosceles triangle: two equal sides. 3 Equilateral triangle: all three sides are equal.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you for helping me. My teacher wouldn't. She gave me a sarcastic remark the other day.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem so what are the three measures of the triangle? then you look at what i have sent and tell me what you would think it is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They are scalene, isosceles, and equilateral, right @suppa_lova

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@imqwerty

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes those are the different types of triangles can you tell me what it is from what you know now look at the length of the sides and tell me what you thnk it is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

equilateral triangles have three equal sides as they are the same length. isosceles triangles only have two equal sides while the other is unequal. scalene triangles have no equal length of the sides as each side are uneven, or not equal to one another. @suppa_lova

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so what are the lengths of the triangle that you need help with?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know the lengths of the triangle. I just need to know how to incorporate the distance and slope formula to classify a triangle, thats all. :) @suppa_lova

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is how you use the formulas to figure out the triangle 1 Use the distance formula to find the length of each side of the triangle ABC. 2 Let each ordered pair be a vertex of the triangle. 3 Leave values in radical form. then you plug in the appropriate points where you need to and the rest just falls into place

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, thank you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem
