OpenStudy (mmbs630):

ΔABC with vertices A(-3, 0), B(-2, 3), C(-1, 1) is rotated 180° clockwise about the origin. It is then reflected across the line y = -x. What are the coordinates of the vertices of the image?

OpenStudy (mmbs630):

A'(0, 3), B'(2, 3), C'(1, 1) A'(0, -3), B'(3, -2), C'(1, -1) A'(-3, 0), B'(-3, 2), C'(-1, 1) A'(0, -3), B'(-2, -3), C'(-1, -1)

OpenStudy (mmbs630):

I drew it out and i believe it is C. I'd just like some confirmation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

after the 180 degree rotation, the coordinates should be A'(3, 0) B'(2, -3) C'(1, -1)

OpenStudy (mmbs630):

thanks i believe i can do it from here

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then after the reflection, it should be A'(0, -3) B'(3, -2) C'(1, -1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh nvm then you got it

OpenStudy (mmbs630):

yep thats what i got! thanks!

OpenStudy (mmbs630):

wouldnt B be (-3, -2)? since its being reflected?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope bc when you reflect a point over y = -x then the x and y values switch places and switch signs. thats why B'(2, -3) became B'(3, -2)

OpenStudy (mmbs630):

this is my drawing, green is the rotation, and orange is the reflection

OpenStudy (mmbs630):

oh i understand, i wasnt reflecting over y=-x

OpenStudy (mmbs630):

I was only reflecting over the y! thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem. glad to help
