OpenStudy (kj4uts):

Find the slope of a line that has the following intercepts: y-intercept: -2; x-intercept: 3. Round your answer to 1 decimal place.

OpenStudy (kj4uts):

I got this (-2-0) / (0-3) = 2/3 or 0.7 and I just want to make sure I did it right?

OpenStudy (danjs):

(0,-2) and (3,0) yeah , they just gave you 2 points

OpenStudy (kj4uts):

but why is it that the -2 which is the y intercept go where x would be and the 3 which is where x intercept go where the y would be in the equation?

OpenStudy (kj4uts):

isn't it usually (x, y) and in the equation (-2 is where x would go, 0) and (0, 3 is where y would go) but -2 is y and 3 is x?

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

@KJ4UTS I have no idea what you're trying to say.

OpenStudy (danjs):

y-intercept --- on the y-axis, x=0 x-intercept --- on the x-axis, y=0

OpenStudy (danjs):

the line x=0 is the y-axis the line y=0 is the x-axis
