I don't know what I want to be when I grow up. I know I still have some time left to decide. But life is short, I want to do something important, in that short time. It doesn't matter that Life is Short. It's what you do with your Life that counts. I want to do something that helps people. Something amazing and important, I thought about being a Doctor and I am still considering it. But I don't know if that's right for me. Any advice? I like singing, but I'm not so sure if singing is important as saving a person's life. I just want to make a difference. That's all.

Well it depends whether you are up for the hard work in becoming a doctor or not. In order to be a doctor you need to complete lots of years in med school and you've gotta get really good grades in high school so for some people, it is definitely a tough decision. But nothing is really unreachable so you can always achieve your dream. I have also got to tell you that making a difference in life doesn't mean u HAVE to be a doctor. In order to make a difference you can take other occupations such as a police officer, firefighter, or even a volunteer leader at a community service event. Granted the salary may not be as high, but you can go home at the end of the day and feel satisfied about what you have accomplished :)

Also, life ISN'T short. Unless you somehow miraculously die from a disease that has no cure. Cause people are living longer these days due to the new creations and technology people are living longer and the cures are slowly on their way to save lives. It's scary if you think about it.

Do something that makes you happy, As long as your happy you don't need to do much. Though you have to pay student loans until you die if you go to collage. I've been told life's to short to be unhappy, If you want to be a doctor go for it you are an unstoppable force!

These are all great answers. I think the first thing you can do to explore what you want in your future is to volunteer and join clubs in your school. Volunteer for anything you can because it will not only do good in your resume, but it will also give you hands-on experience on many things and it will be easier to find out what you like and what you don't like in a work setting. Also join as much clubs as you are interested in so you can learn and educate yourself and others. Try to seek leadership roles within the club. This will help you narrow down what you want to do in the future. One advice that I was given was once I have ideas of what I want to study or be in the future, "Date an idea, but don't marry it. Play with it, get to know more about it, even cheat on it." This basically means that since now-a-days we have the advantage of having so many professions and majors and minors available to us, we're always discovering new things and you don't want to bust your butt becoming a doctor and only be focused on becoming a doctor and then find out afterwards that you wanted to become a teacher. So in other words, be open to everything. Especially now that you have enough time. Volunteer, join clubs, talk to professors and ask questions, be involved in the community, etc..
