PLEASE HELP!! what is the most significant differences in priorities and approaches to foreign policy among Democratic and Republican Presidential Candidates?
I was thinking that democratic don't want boots on the ground but republicans do
Since the beginning of the United States we've had problems where we either want neutrality/isolationism or a heavy presence in another government. Some candidates believe in Isolationism and keeping ourselves out of other peoples buissiness and focusing on ourselves while others believe in us being a sort of "global police force". Like America should help keep everyone in line or try to "Fix" their problems. A good example of this is ISIS. ISIS is causing problems with other countries with terrorism. Should we attack ISIS or leave them alone and let the other countries handle it. Right now some believe they don't pose a threat to us. Some want to attack, some want to barter or do nothing. Now, relate these to the parties. Democrats tend to fall toward the neutrality or isolationism like bartering or trying to stay out of others business. Republicans tend to fall toward the military presence and helping in military operations to protect us and other countries. This really gets into the political debate area. Some would agree with my points while some would disagree.
That would be about the same as what I've just said @michelle.d97 . Democrats want neutrality and isolationism while republicans what their hand in. Its not nessisarily about boots on the ground as it is about trying to get rid of a threat. This could be done through bombing, boots on the ground, targeted missile attacks, etc.
I'f you want someone to debate with that will get really deep into the subject I would refer you to @nincompoop as he (may) attempt to provide you with really REALLY specific situations and points.
