A puppy weighed 27 lb. His weight increased by 233% by the time he was 1 year old. How much did the puppy weigh when he was 1 year old?
233% can be converted to decimal form
233.0 <-- move the decimal two places to the left. That's the decimal form. Then you just multiply it by the weight when the puppy was born.
puppy weight in 1 year + (puppy weight in 1 year *2.33) = puppy weight now lets assume puppy weight in 1 year = x x+2.33x = 27 solve for x
it's percent tho i can convert it in to a desmol
The variables are very unnecessary. You just have to multiply by the decimal form of the percentage.
It is not asking **every year** it is just **within the span of a year* so a variable is not suitable for this.
WE do not even know when the weight was calculated, I'm just ASSUMING it was when it was born.

cmt just do what I mentioned in my first comment
my way is most accurate cause you are able to find the value of the weight with algebra not by inituition
puppy weight in 1 year + (puppy weight in 1 year *2.33) = puppy weight now lets assume puppy weight in 1 year = x x+2.33x = 27 solve for x WHATS THE FLAW IN THIS?
No. It says "by the time the puppy was 1 year old" so we can't assume anything.
There's two x's in that though. Can't you just make a proportion?
It does not say if it was weighed wehn it was born or sometime after that, if it were any time after that then the "x" would be a decimal and that is not given
Literally you just need to mutliply, no need to complicate it.
multiply exactly what?
The percentage. It is just asking for an increase. 27 * 2.33 is literally the only things you need to do.
I don't even know why you have two x's in your equation. That wouldn't work.
Sorry it is hard to draw w/ a mouse, but ye.
?!?!?!!? Where did the 1.158 come from? It's just 27 * 2.33 why do you guys have to try and complicate 5th-6th grade math.
Because it is setting up a proportion?
Whatever, I'll just delete it..
Why?? It's just so simple?? Multiplying two numbers literally??
B/c that wasn't how I was taught how to do it initially..
