Okay

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

Ok, im not that good at History, but I got this: The domino theory led to one clear conclusion: limiting the spread of communism was essential to preventing it from going viral. As early as the late 1940s, President Harry Truman initiated a policy of containment to try and contain communism where it already existed, and prevent its spreading elsewhere. Truman, for example, gave aid to Turkey and Greece to prevent civil unrest that he feared might turn into communism. Likewise, Truman authorized financial support to the French in their war with communist-leaning Indochinese rebels. President Dwight Eisenhower, however, was the first to publicly call this policy a "domino theory," when he spoke about the importance of preventing communism's rise in Indochina. Though the domino theory is most closely associated with the Cold War between the late 1940s and early 1990s, some foreign policy analysts believe it continues today. The U.S. invasion of Afghanistan -- and prolonged presence in the country -- stemmed from a belief that the Taliban was expansionary and would spread into neighboring countries unless the U.S. attacked it in Afghanistan. Similarly, U.S. foreign policy regarding the Iranian nuclear program suggests domino theory influence. Many foreign policy officials believe Iran's attainment of a nuclear weapon would cause other countries in the region to create their own nuclear bombs. This is similar to the belief that communism in one country would spread elsewhere. I dont know if this answer your question or not :\ I got it from this website: http://classroom.synonym.com/american-foreign-relations-domino-theory-21394.html

The Marshal Plan and Domino Theory: After world war 2, the world changed it's view of how the world works. A simple normal man can cause allot of damage just with using his mouth. The world was very sad due to so many deaths and the damages in the after math of the war. Especially Europe since Germany had invaded many of the European countries and took full control. The U.S. got involved in the war after Japan killed many of our Sailors and sunk many of our ships in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. This led the U.S. to plan D-day, which was just a code name for the event of liberation of France. Most of the countries after the war, were in ruins and their economy was very low. Although the U.S. started became allies in World War 2, it was just to defeat the common enemy that was causing many problems. About 5 years after World War 2, North Korea violated the United Nations laws and made a surprise attack on the democratic South Koreans. North Korean government was and still is under communist control and the South Koreans were governed by a democratic government. This was when the U.S. got the "Domino Theory". The "Domino Theory" was just what it sounds like, if there is a line of Dominoes standing and one is pushed, it would cause a massive chain reaction making surrounding dominoes fall as well. The U.S. was afraid that if communists would attack and take over a country the neighbors of the fallen country would also fall into communism. Many years after World war 2, the governments were having problems rebuilding. And the U.S. was afraid that these European nations becoming convinced to join the Soviet Union (communism) just to receive the money and support to rebuild. That's when the Marshal plan came to be. The Marshal plan was an Idea to bring support and help to ruined Europe and offer Europe countries help. Of course the Soviet Union saw our idea and attempted to make a similar plan for Europe. The Marshal plan provided help and support for 16 European countries that were struggling to rebuild. The Marshal plan was eventually renamed to the European Recovery Program, or ERP. The plan used up about 13 billion dollars, just to help Europe countries. These 13 billion dollars involved Machinery, Food and fuel. The Soviet was invited by the U.S. to help but they rejected the invitation. The U.S. was more interested in helping Great Britain and France as they were our great help in World war 2. When the U.S. saw the Soviets formed their own plan to help Europe, they felt obligated to keep helping Europe or the European countries would see more support from Soviets and start gaining more interests in joining the Communist idea and movement.
