You scored the following grades on your first three math tests: 71, 78, 81. You only have one test remaining. What is the highest possible test average you can get? Question 2 options: 82.5 81 100 90

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To find the average/ mean you add all the numbers and divide them by how many numbers you are adding together.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here actually you have to find the marks for the last test. You need to maximize the average. So what is the mark you can get out of 100 so that your average will be maximum. avg = (sum of Previous test mark + last remaining test marks) / total number of test including last one. So can you find the last test mark.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 76.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sooo

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you got 76 in last test , so sum of mark in all test = 306. Number of test = 4. so your average is 306/4 = 76.5. Can you increase it further?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes to 81 because I round it right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why only 76?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I added then divided by the 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what if you add 90 test mark?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait its 100

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you get its 100??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I looked it up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So what is your average and whats your last test score?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

100

OpenStudy (anonymous):

both??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I only had to pck 1

Getting an average and getting best out of 4 is different. An average include all of your performance. Something like you have eaten 3 apple first day, 4 apple 2nd day and 11 apple 3rd day so what is the average you can get? (3 + 4 + 11) / 3 = 6. So average apple you have eaten is 6 and maximum 10 and minimum 3.
