Graphing Cube Roots. Does anyone know how to solve them?

OpenStudy (faiqraees):

Whats your question?

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

@FaiqRaees

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

@math&ing001

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

You can see that x=-5 represents a turning point in the plot so the it's gonna be based on sqrt3(x+5). Now after we narrowed it down to option A and B, from the orientation of the graph we can guess it's option B.

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

Alrighty, I kind of understand... I have 7 more similar questions. could you help with those as well please please please? lol

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

Ok sure but you have to try too

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

of course

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

ok then =]

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

I can see that the graph is negative, because it swirls downward.

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

x-intercept is (4,0) narrowing it down to A or C.... correct?

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

I am thinking A

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

I am assuming that the inflection point is the slightly more bold line marking (3,1)

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

YES and for turning point you always look inside the root and put it to zero (here 3-x) And why rush into a maybe answer, while we can be absolutely sure it's correct ;]

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

Therefore the Answer is in fact A!

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

Yep !

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

Perfect!

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

Can you guess ? Hint : cubic root, unlike square root can take negative values ;]

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

Ummm... This one is a little more tricky to me... A or B... Not quite sure on this question

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

Well like I said cubic root can take all values, so there is no condition on x i.e. x is all real numbers

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

A?

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

Not quite, y too can be all real numbers.

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

Lol C

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

Yeah this one was difficult for me..

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

You get the domain from the x-axis and the range from the y-axis.

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

D

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

Yep !

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

Another one of those tricky ones.... lol

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

Well you have to learn how to get the range =] Here's a hint : ALWAYS look for constrains on x. Example: here the square root only takes positive value (the term inside the square root must be >0)

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

Would the constrains be +2 and +5

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

Im thinking that it is C based on the last one like this... completely unsure though

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

Not really, what's inside the square root must be >0 meaning x+2>0

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

Because the last one, the X had two real numbers next to it, and so does this one, however the number outside of the sqrt sign is different making the second part of the answer different... lol i could be completely wrong though

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

D... because X is > or = 2

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

A would mean that x> or = -2 making the statement x+2>0 true if x was -2

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

But those are totally different roots √ is different from 3√ 3√ can take all values inside while √ can only have positive values inside.

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

Yes that's correct !

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

A is correct? okay then lol it took me a couple tries but i finally thought something out correctly, i dont like these types of problems.

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

\[x+2\ge0 <=> x \ge-2\] yes A is correct =]

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

There arent any more of them, thankfully. Okay, i got it now! :)

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

Well, the x-axis is (-1,-2) y-axis is -6

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

You can guess the function from the range and domain ;]

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

B.... they both consist of a -1 and a -2

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

Here x>= -1 means x+1 inside the root. y<=-2 means option C I gtg cya =3

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

Aww only 2more left... thanks anyhow

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

So this one is C?

OpenStudy (princesssleelee):

Because the sign changes when inside the root?
