OpenStudy (snuggielad):

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

umm there is a design section for that boom owlbugs

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

I'm aware of that @AlexandervonHumboldt2 . I just disregarded that fact and posted it here.

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

OpenStudy (samsungfanboy):

I'm terrified by the peter griffin one than the donald trump XD

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

Actually, I thought the Donald Trump design was pretty "dope" as people say.

OpenStudy (igreen):

The first one kind of reminds me of my Albert Einstein owl..lol.

OpenStudy (igreen):

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

Nice one! @iGreen

OpenStudy (zale101):

Yay! Snuggie is back on owls! :3

OpenStudy (ashleyisakitty):

The Donald Trump owl is too hilarious.

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

I'm not necessarily back; however, creativity mitigates to boredom rather well. @Zale101 I'm glad you like it! That's one of my favorites that I've made. @Ashleyisakitty

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

*mitigates bordom Don't quite know how that "to" got in there.

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

I am "back" on OpenStudy just not "back" on owls.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Hoot! Nice owls!

OpenStudy (bigpapa1):

i like all of them except the trump one but maybe that's because i don't like trump lol

OpenStudy (greencat):

Saw talk of Trump hair. Relevant: http://trumpdonald.org/

OpenStudy (bigpapa1):

OMG I'M DYING!!!!! LOL

OpenStudy (conqueror):

Why isn't Crazy Bernie flesh like Donald Trump ?

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

@Conqueror Don't question the designer. Just accept it.

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

I'm not going to sketch out illustrations, and it's really hard to find an illustration of Bernie that would work.

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

Who's next?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What?

OpenStudy (athecool):

Is this a design??

OpenStudy (conqueror):

Wow, the copying and pasting is real. >_>

OpenStudy (athecool):

What?

OpenStudy (conqueror):

The decal pasting on the owls...

OpenStudy (bigpapa1):

How do you make the owls like that? I want one of Patrick Stump (the guy in my picture)

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

at least he's not using the same design for everything like a certain someone did

OpenStudy (conqueror):

2 amazingly equal designs shown below.

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

@bigpapa1 http://www.getpaint.net/ is a good tool to start with. Just keep sketching until you get it right. Here's the base that everyone uses too:

OpenStudy (conqueror):

@bigpapa1 You don't need any of the latest paint programs to make good owls. I used the regular paint program to make all of mine.

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

What? You want me to make a new suit for every owl. Heck naw.

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

If you use MS paint, they end up loking super pixelated, as MS paint does not have good anti-aliasing capabilities. MS paint is also lacking in filters/effects/adjustment capabilities also. With MS paint, you get something that looks like the triangle on the left. Pixelated, faded, and with that wonderful compression noise on the edges. With paint.net, you get stuff like the triangle on the right. Sharp, no compression noise, no fading, etc. And again, effects and adjustments and whatnot, and you can also layer your images (another thing you can't do with MS paint) in case you don't want to press ctrl+z and hope the undo history goes back far enough to before you made a mistake, if you make one.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

The suit wasn't the only thing copied.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

I don't see any triangles on my owls.

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

I mean, you don't need running shoes to run, and you can use regular shoes if you want, but running shoes definitely help.

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

@Conqueror I wasn't trying to say it was one of yours, but since you brought it up, this is where I got the triangle from:

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

What triangle? And what else was copied? I'm lost.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

When people use new paint programs to create new owls, they put little effort into their owls. And I made Superman's cape like that. You think it just appeared there because of the paint program I use ?

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

They put less effort into their owls? I don't seem to understand what you are saying. I do professional photo retouching, you're telling me that what I can do with Photoshop is lazy? Would I be better off putting photos in Microsoft paint, with its limited capabilities, and painting over the blemishes on a persons face with an off-tone color and then charging them a high price? Paint is very limited. You can use brushes and do very limited effects. I am able to do the same thing you do in Microsoft paint, but in Photoshop. The rendered effect looks cleaner too.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

"charging them a high price" I don't know what this means. And if you know how to use paint, it wouldn't have very limited effects.

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

I was just giving an example of why MS paint shouldn't be used. @Conqueror looking back at all of your owls from http://www.owlsofopenstudy.weebly.com/ they all look super pixelated, because again, MS paint doesn't have good anti-aliasing capabilities (anti-aliasing is softening shapes so they don't look super pixelated, jagged, etc.). So yes, it is because you use MS paint. Again, I was just providing an example comparing them. Anti-aliasing is only available in MS paint if you use one of their fancy brush effects. And then, if you use the paint bucket inside of a closed, AA'd line, it ends up looking like badAA.png (attached below). If you do the same with paint.net, it will look like goodAA.png (also attached below). For another triangle comparison that doesn't come from someone else's owl, see comparison.png (again, left is MS paint, right is paint.net). Also, as a side note, paint.net supports transparency in backgrounds and brushes, while ms paint does not.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

My owls are clear enough for people to see and that's all that matters. The outline of the circle wouldn't have different sizes if you used a pencil or a good brush.

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

Your argument is invalid @Conqueror . Paint isn't meant to be used for advanced photo editing. Period. Paint can be used for simple amateur illustrations and cartoonist drawings fairly well. It does require talent to physically draw something, but paint isn't meant to be used for many things.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

Oh really ? My owls have much more effort and are much more advanced than owls that have pasted decals on them.

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

The size is not what matters. Look at the inside of the black line. There are tons of white pixels between the black and the red, because ms paint's fill only looks for one color, whereas paint.net's fill looks for colors similar to the color of the pixel that you clicked (which is adjustable). If you look at goodAA, you will see much fewer white pixels between the red and the black (could be even fewer than what is shown because again, it's adjustable).

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

Say what you would like but paint can't do everything other programs can do. I'm not saying your owls are bad. I would never say something like that. I'm also not saying that you didn't put effort in, but saying paint is the only way to do it is garbage.

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

It's called color sensitivity @poopsiedoodle .

OpenStudy (conqueror):

You're right, you can't paste decals on owls in paint which puts little effort into your owls.

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

As for limitations of MS paint, here's everything you can do with it (image attached below). Here's an overview of paint.net's features in general: http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/index.html Here's the menu-bar: http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/MenuBar.html (includes explanations of adjustments and effects) And the toolbar: http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/ToolsWindow.html Why use a bare-boned severely limited program when there are other, much more advanced, free-to-use programs out there?

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

That suit, I drew it. That doesn't mean that I have to draw everything. If you are so narrow minded as to think that using the internet to assist in the creative process isn't actual talent then we have a problem.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

Call it whatever you want. I call it little effort.q

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

Okay, thanks for your opinion! I respect it, as I hope you would mine.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

First you say "we have a problem", then you say you respect my opinion. .

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

Opinions are opinions and only that. A problem would be a disagreement. I disagree with you, don't get me wrong, but I choose to bow out and respect your opinion as it differs from mine.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

Cool

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

So my next owl, Kanye west or Kim Kardashian?

OpenStudy (bigpapa1):

@poopsiedoodle @Conqueror thank you both! I didn't mean to start an argument between you guys :( sorry. I just wanted to know how to make a Patrick Stump owl but thanks

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

naw you're good, yo I wasn't trying to argue either, but discouraging people from getting to their full potential is no bueno.

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

Also snuggie, I vote neither because they're both big babies.

OpenStudy (bigpapa1):

Okay

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

This sucks but I'm good with it.

Hayhayz (hayhayz):

lol... no words

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

Kanye

likeabossssssss (likeabossssssss):

Can u make a minecraft creeper one?

likeabossssssss (likeabossssssss):

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

likeabossssssss (likeabossssssss):

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

HE DID IT THE ABSOLUTE MADMAN

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

Ah, yes, I was wondering where I had seen the design for the joker suit before.
