Singler Possessive: Mr. Jones's Plural form:? Plural Possessive:?
@Irrati0nal
Not quite. Remember what I said in your last question about names that end with an "s"? How if it ends with an "s" before adding possession, it must have an apostrophe after the "s" to show possession? For example, "It is James' pencil." "James" is the name without possession. To add possession, add an apostrophe after the "s," like so: "James'."
"Jones" is the name here. It ends with an "s" without possession. Therefore, all we do is add an apostrophe after the "s" to show possession. Now, if there are more than one Jones, say, the Jones family, "Jones" is plural. To show plural possession, do the same as you would to show singular possession.
Ok so Mr. Jones' as the Plural Possessive ?
Oh wait its actually the singular possive
Right?
Get rid of "Mr." There can only be one "Mr. Jones," if we make it plural, it would have to be more than one "Jones," say "the Jones family." So if we eliminate "Mr.," all that's left is "Jones," which can refer to more than one.
It is the Jones' house. (The Jones family's house.)
See how that makes it plural?
Hmmm oh ok I see it thank you!
You're welcome.
