“Jim my father is going to drive me to the mall.” Which element in the sentence is nonrestrictive? jim my father to the mall

OpenStudy (dragonman1):

i think its "to the mall"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you tell me what nonrestrictive means? I know in general it's obviously something without restrictions. Little to no rules, possibly

OpenStudy (dragonman1):

A nonrestrictive modifying clause (or nonessential clause) is an adjective clause that adds extra or nonessential information to a sentence.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nonrestrictive means (of a relative clause or descriptive phrase) giving additional information about a noun phrase whose particular reference has already been specified.

OpenStudy (dragonman1):

it was my father

Hey, sorry. My phone died lol I was thinking it's the mall too :/ It's probably because it's an ambiguous choice of pronoun. "My" could refer to Jim or the speaker. Bummer. I would've picked the mall too, if it's any consolation lol
