Find the value of x. I'll medal if someone can show me how to work this.

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

If I am correct the 2 angles before the triangle comes is 180 degrees so 6x+x+16=180 but i'm not 100% positice

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

Yeah thats not right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I tried that @kayders1997 but the two lines aren't parallel I don't think. The lower line looks crooked, so this wouldn't work.

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

Hmmmm

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

I wonder if you could add the top two angles and call the unknown angle y, because we do know there is 180 degrees in a straight line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let me try this again on paper.

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

Okay this one is kind of hard

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah I haven't got a clue on how to solve this.

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

I would probably be aware of what I was doing if I was taking geometry now, I haven't taken a geometry class in 2 years! It's good to look at things like this though to see if I can brush up on it while trying to help someone though :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haha well you're lucky. At least you've already gotten past it lol

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

Lol, I'm in a really hard math class right now, its tough, it kinda wiped away all the old stuff I learned like geometry concepts

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would be able to solve this super quickly if the lines were parallel. :/

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

Did you get this yet?

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

Yeah this one isn't so easy I wonder if you cant extend the lines? Where the triangle is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No not yet @FibonacciChick666 still hopelessly lost lol

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

Just kidding that wont help us either

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

So, hint* Can you draw some perpendicular lines that might make some convenient triangles?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Um, diagonals?

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

no, just draw in some perpendicular lines. Not something defined per say. Can you draw some lines so you have a triangle that has a 90 degree angle?

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

Good luck @homeschooler13

OpenStudy (baconboy73):

I extended the triangle and created an angle "y". Ask if you need explanation.

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

that works, ok, so, one thing we have to do is make that line a perpendicular. That is how we make this easier
