Match the narrative techniques My uncle hugged me and said, "Don't worry too much about us. Things are bound to turn around." It was almost the first week of summer, but the field looked nothing like that emerald green sea. It was more the yellow of late July or August. I'd seen him suffer as if he himself were one of those dried-up cornstalks. Finally, it was time for me to leave.

Dialogue Description Reflection Pacing

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Do you have ideas? I can see what Dialogue is already,. Dialogue, speech between two characters in the story. Which is showing a conversation between two people? Remember " " quotes speech! @Dragontears1128

OpenStudy (dragontears1128):

nopw tbh

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Description means to describe a text. So what describes a noun? It was almost the first week of summer, but the field looked nothing like that emerald green sea. It was more the yellow of late July or August. Description is used here. Describing what it physically looked like in summer. What the landscape looks like! Hint: Adjectives and adverbs are most likely spotted in description texts, since they describe nouns and pronoun (adjectives.) and verbs, other adverbs, and adjectives (adverbs).

OpenStudy (dragontears1128):

dialogue: conversation among the characters written as they said it so does that mean I'd seen him suffer as if he himself were one of those dried-up cornstalks. go with that one?

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

http://study.com/academy/lesson/narrative-techniques-dialogue-pacing-description-reflection.html Pacing simply means how fast your story unfolds. So what is probably ending the story in fast pace? and no. is their any " ? " quotes around the speech?

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

You don't know if he is actually saying that, actually, because their aren't any quotes surrounding his WORDS, and he isn't speaking to someone inside the story. One-sided.

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

It would be a actually means a personal conclusions of explanations of a story..

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

" It was almost the first week of summer, but the field looked nothing like that emerald green sea. It was more the yellow of late July or August." Most likely a description, because it is literally DESCRIBING the scenery and or settings..

OpenStudy (dragontears1128):

okay and there isnt no ? so it got me confuesed

OpenStudy (dragontears1128):

and im keep geting it wrong to on my class im taking online

OpenStudy (dragontears1128):

so im on here looking for help lol

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Ok, lets start from the beginning. DIALOGUE. A SPEECH BETWEEN TWO INDIVIDUALS.

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

EXAMPLE: "Hi, David!" She smiled, walking towards her friend. "Hey, Samantha, how are you doing?"

OpenStudy (dragontears1128):

im just saying this now thanks for your help :) and okay

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Usually, you would know what it is, because it has " " surrounding someones words, and you can site TWO people speaking and connecting to one another. So what shows this?

OpenStudy (dragontears1128):

my uncle huged that one

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Yes. Correct, next!

OpenStudy (dragontears1128):

do they all have the " " or sometimes the ?

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Description: Root word, describe. Description describes something. It could be the setting, weather, person, thing, anything! It consists of adverbs and adjectives because they DESCRIBE something. Example: The tall girl walked in a slow pace, looking down at the ground. She appeared gloomy, as her hair swirled in the cold wind. (And yes, mostly they do " --- " because it signals words being spoken. In most of the cases).

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

So what is describing a setting or something?

OpenStudy (dragontears1128):

the summer one ?

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Correct. It is describing how it appears and looks. So, yes.

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

NEXT, REFLECTION. someone comes to their own explaination and such, like I stared at the girl, whom was covered in rags and dirt, peering around the corner, as she sat on the side of the road sighing. I came to the conclusion that this poor girl was suffering and poor. I tried to think of something that could possibly help her...

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Remember, reflection is to observe and connect the puzzle pieces to figure out what was going on, :)

OpenStudy (dragontears1128):

okay so the finally walks away aint that pacing

OpenStudy (dragontears1128):

so the reflection is something that you kinda sorta look back on something am i correct on that

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Half and Half, picture this, you see someone, hurt, their emotions reflect to you, and you think about what is wrong, you figure it out.

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

REFLECT, back on what is happening, and try to come up with your own resolvement.

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

So, which is showing reflection?

OpenStudy (dragontears1128):

I'd seen him suffer as if he himself were one of those dried-up cornstalk

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

correct,

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

PACING: Concluding in a somewhat face matter.

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Its obvious what it is since it is the last one left..

OpenStudy (dragontears1128):

finaly leaveing that one ?

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

fast* matter. (audio correction )

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

I believe so, correct. :) You understand now?

OpenStudy (dragontears1128):

yep thanks

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):
