OpenStudy (gabby2117):

Evaluate the expression by using the given value of the variables. y ÷ 2 • 4 – 10 ÷ x + 6 where x = 5 and y = 16 A. 3 B. 21 C. –3 D. 36

OpenStudy (gabby2117):

@MissSmartiez

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

got a guess?

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

ohh pemdas :) remember

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

plug it in 16/2-10/5+6

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

remember P.E.M.D.A.S. is the order you do things in Parenthesis, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction.

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

So you would do what first?

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

so you would divide first since there is no parenthesis or exponents

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

2 x 4 right? Since P E M - multiplication comes first D A S

OpenStudy (gabby2117):

16/2 = 8 8-10/5+6 8-2+6 6+6 12

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

it doesnt matter if you divide or multiply first

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

No it would be M first XD It would be PED - MAS IF IT WAS division first.

OpenStudy (gabby2117):

It does not matter which ones first

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

mult and div is first and add and sub is second it doesnt matter if you divide or mult first

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

hhhmmm, I learned differently and I go by the order Gabz, but ok. I did

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

well im just saying that your answer is always going to come out the same whether you divide or multiply first

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

you are correct gabby

OpenStudy (gabby2117):

But it is not an option

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

The reason why I said PEMDAS () ^2 x / so on, was because I learned it and find it more easier, :), but I noticed my mistake in the comment above - w-, I missed a step, so what was your first answer?

OpenStudy (gabby2117):

I skipped a step so 36

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

No i said I skipped a step, I will check yours, but what was your original answer

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

16/2=8 x 4 = 32 so 32-10/5+6 32-2+6 36

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

.

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

That works too! But what was your before answer?

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

i already showed her

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

its right there she figured out the answer already

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Geez, thanks for answering for Gabby when I was only speaking and referring to her, @rebeccaxhawaii. I gotten your notations the FIRST time.

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

you need to chill out i was saying that she already got the answer by herself she found the mistake im not answering for her @MissSmartiez

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

I didn't see that, one, two, I didn't answer to your response as rudely as you did mine. I am already chilled, if you hadn't noticed I am not portraying any thing or any word play to express that I was mad. Thanks. I still don't like the math section, to many people just butting in one, then they do the answers FLAT OUT, not saying excuse me or anything, then expects a medal. Sorry if I insulted you in any way or compared, but I thought you were one of them.

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

@rebeccaxhawaii , I didn't wish to start a feud or you saying I need to CHILL out.

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Have a nice day, sorry for the conflict <3

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

ok

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

( didn't noticed she said she skipped a step or understood, I was typing fast o3o)

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

misunderstanding we are only human
