Key Changes to AP Calculus 2016-17
Key Change 1: A new curriculum framework will replace the topic outlines. The framework follows an Understanding by Design® structure, makes essential mathematical practices explicit, and directly aligns course content with demonstrable learning objectives.
Key Change 2: No topics will be removed from the existing AP Calculus program, and several topics will be added.
Key Change 3: The AP Calculus Exams will continue to share the same format, but the distribution of questions and relative timing of the multiple-choice section of each exam will be adjusted, based on feedback from teachers and administrators.

Is this both the AB and BC courses?
are the other APs changing?
yes
Do you know which ones @nincompoop
everything
they just changed ap chem i dont see why they would change it again this year
Because many schools are not giving credits or full credits for those AP classes.
they want it to be par with introductory college courses and that was the point to begin with
Oh wow that's interesting to hear.
But it makes sense now why they would rework the curriculum
many students with AP grades did not do well compare to those who took intro courses in college when taking the upper level courses
I say, they should make AP credits just allow you to test out of the course, not skip it entirely.
I know that idea is in place at a couple of schools. From what I remember Georgia Tech was using the idea of being able to test out of the course if you had scored a 4 or 5 on a specific AP exam. Dartmouth had a similar option to test out in previous years, but they found most failed to pass the test for credit anyways. Certain schools have been using some SAT II test as credit, but that is much rarer now. GT may still do this as well.
Even CLEP is easier than the actual course for the most part. So, I do not know why AP or SAT allows any student to skip.
I used CLEP precal/trig to get credit and place into Calc 1. If i hadn't reviewed a serious amount of trigonometry before starting the course I think I would have been completely lost. Not sure why CLEP is even considered viable as actual knowledge of the material.
I feel some changes should be made in terms of what is covered on the exams as well as difficulty. For some of the CLEP subjects you only need to obtain a 50-60% to achieve credit which seems ridiculous.
