OpenStudy (anonymous):

1/2 + 3/4 + 1/2

OpenStudy (michaelbp):

1.75

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think I know how to do this but I want to check if its right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Dont give direct answers.

OpenStudy (michaelbp):

1 3/4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Gee, thanks for not giving direct answers and helping me figure it out BY MYSELF ):(

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

okay so you need to get the denominators to be ALL 4

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

so can you get 1/2 to have a denominator of x/4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The halves would be 2/4

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

yup so 2/4 + 3/4 + 2/4 is what

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

(just add the numerators)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and you add to get 7/4,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Idk where to go from there

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

yup; now you can simply if youd like

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

also; 1/2 + 1/2 = what

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1 whole

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

plus 3/4 is what

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which means the answer is 1 3/4

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

yup :)

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

if you had simplified 7/4 it would be 1 and 3/4
