OpenStudy (3redsons):

Are negative numbers real? my brother says that they are not, if they are real, how can i explain to him that they are not?

OpenStudy (3redsons):

please explain in full detail

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is the equivalent of matter versus anti-matter. It does exist, but, if we made " negativity " visable, it'd still be invisible, as, it's values go below 0.

OpenStudy (error1603):

real numbers may be described informally as numbers that can be given by an infinite decimal representation, such as 2.4871773339.... The real numbers include both rational numbers, such as 42 and −23/129, and irrational numbers, such as π and the square root of 2, and can be represented as points along an infinitely long number line.

OpenStudy (3redsons):

ok thanks guys! how do i give a medal?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A real number may be either rational or irrational; either algebraic or transcendental; and either positive, negative, or zero. Real numbers are used to measure continuous quantities.
