The League of Nations was very unpopular. The Senate did not approve it and we never officially joined. Americans did not want to fight in WWI and finally got in when Woodrow Wilson convinced enough people that it was a one time War to End All Wars. The LoN was a Wilson thing. Americans generally felt that he had unnecessarily got us into a terrible war. Americans came back crippled and sick from exposure to mustard gas and other horrible things. That's why many Americans did not like the LoN. It was another President Wilson trick to get us into the next war. The Constitution of the United States outlines how USA will declare war. We don't like anybody else telling our troops that they have to go fight somewhere. The LoN document in the cartoon is depicted as forcing the Constitution someplace it doesn't want to go. You should be able to match up the symbolism there. And you should be able to figure out which group of Americans agreed with the cartoon. (Hint: it wasn't the people who agreed with Wilson.)
what?
could u help me answer like each question?
@BellaBlueBird
@rEdNeCkGiRl101
@wwhitlock i am still confused can u take me step by step
What symbols do you see in the cartoon?
the us?
the paper?
idk
can u give me an example
Two different papers. Each labeled differently. What is each piece of paper?
us constitution, leugare covenant
?
idk, can u just do this one?
@wwhitlock
? @wwhitlock
sorry. I'm here
So the paper is a symbol for the actual document. You can answer by saying just that. One paper is a symbol of the US Constitution The other paper is a symbol for the Leauge of Nations Covenant
ok, but i need all symbols
The Constitution is sitting in a chair with a US shield on it. We'll call that the proper place for the Constitution
?
The chair is the US. The Constitution belongs there
ok, what are the symbols and what do they represent
You've got 3. 2 papers and a chair. You told me what the papers represent. They are labeled. The chair with the US shield is the United States.
ok. number 2
Look at the cartoon. The caption says not room for both. The Constitution is in the chair. Whats the LoN trying to do?
idk
See the arms? He's pushing the Con. There is no room for both in the chair. What's he doing?
on is taking over but who?
Yes, he's taking over. He's trying to take the place of the Constitution.
whose he?
the LoN paper.
loN which is what
League of Nations
ok, can u say # two into a sentence that i can write down? same with #1
? @wwhitlock
I've given you both. Check the conversation. If you can't find them, I'll check in when I'm back on.
ok. #3 can u help with
@wwhitlock
can someone else help me with #3
@Awolflover1
@thyartismurderxx @torrlang
what is the question you need help with?
3. Does the cartoon express a view for or against joining the League of Nations? How do you know @torrlang
Where is the cartoon?
I found it
write this down as #3: This cartoon is con League Of Nations. It is against. Because the U.S. Constitution doesn't want to share with the LON. There can only be one in the chair and thats the U.S. Constitution.
ok, what about 1 and 2?
